THA is a trade association that was formed in 1930 to meet the needs of Texas hospitals. Based in Austin, THA represents health care institutions and professionals throughout the state. Membership totals more than 800 institutional and 3,700 personal members. THA has been the sponsor for the THA Retirement Plan since 1969.
Successor Trustees
A THA appointed board of hospital executives is responsible for investment oversight and overall management of the THA Retirement Plan.

Formed in 1980, Morgan Stanley is a global financial services Investment Management organization with 700 worldwide offices and more than $51 billion in assets under management. MS was chosen in 2001 to invest up to 10 percent of the THA Retirement Plan assets in an international stock portfolio.

A subsidiary of United Asset Management, THB was formed in 1982 to exclusively provide management to institutional small-cap stock portfolios. Current assets under management are more than $2.5 billion. THB was chosen by the THA Retirement Plan in 1997 as an investment manager.
Barrow, Hanley, Mewhinney & Strauss (BHMS)

Founded in Dallas in 1979, BHMS is a wholly owned subsidiary of Old Mutual PLC.  With 29 investment professionals and more than $30 billion under management, it is one of the largest value-oriented investment managers of institutional assets in the U.S.  BHMS was chosen in 2005 to manage a portfolio of large cap value stocks for the THA Retirement Plan.

Formed in 1975, Vanguard has grown to be the world's largest pure no-load mutual fund company with more than $550 billion under management.  Vanguard was chosen in 2005 as a manager for the THA Retirement Plan.  This trust invests in a mutual fund that essentially replicates the MSCI U.S. Small Cap 1750 Index.

San Francisco, CA

Established in 1930, San Francisco based Dodge & Cox provides professional investement management services to individuals, retirement plans, and tax exempt institutions through mutual funds and separate accounts.  Hired in 2006, Dodge & Cox invests about $20 million in an international stock fund for the THA Retirement Plan.

Starting with $20 million in 1988, Cadence has grown to more than $7.5 billion under management in various investment disciplines.  In 2007, Cadence was chosen to manage $20 million in a small cap growth stock portfolio for the THA Retirement Plan.
